This is me... I work in a local bank and have been in the trade for more than 20 years. There is no swarf or grease in my work area, just dust when I'm too busy to allow the cleaner to do their job on my desk. Like most in the country, we work long hours and often times, weekends and public holidays. This leaves little for the shop, which is a converted study, in my humble flat.
I've a wife (yes, one and only) and 2 school going daughters. They're the core of my life; the reason for pushing myself harder. I've yet to learn how to put the Lord, my God, as the centre, which is what I should be doing. My wife is a church volunteer, visiting folks that need help or just a listening ear. This work of hers is tougher than mine, for mine is just about dealing with personal emotion. Her job makes her stronger in her mind and soul. My 2 little girls, Alicia and Ruth, are my treasures. Alicia is becoming a young woman. She is 16, at the time of re-writing this. Like most teens of her age, most of her time is spent online with friends in some forums. Ruth, on the other hand, is still living a carefree live at age 12. She is, at this moment, still sticking to daddy and mommy. She is such a sweet girl and often brought smile to my face just thinking of her. She also reminded me that our daddy God wants us to be dependent on Him; to be close and enjoy His love for us. I thank God for the 3 women in my life, and for His protections and provisions.
I started learning about machining towards the end of 2009 with the purchase of the Sherline 5410 CNC ready mill. Since then, I've upgraded it with longer base, table, column bed, and finally the 8 direction column to arrive at the 2010 mill. With the leftovers from the upgrade, plus some parts I purchased, I put together another 5410 mill and sold it off. On the lathe front, I've the 4410 17" bed Sherline which I later converted to CNC using the Sherline CNC upgrade kit. The latest addition to the homeshop is the Proxxon PD400 lathe and later, a Wabeco F1200 mill.
